The Industrial Revolution pushed mass production to its limits and answered the need for "more" at a time when growth meant everything. Missing from
this period was the style and craftsmanship of the past. By the turn-of-the-century, the demand for cheap, mass-produced goods began to wane. This backlash sparked the Arts & Crafts movement and has served as the inspiration for The Meredith Collection.
Made of local stoneware clays, our tiles are hand-molded utilizing hand-carved molds and antique presses, just as they were 100 years ago. Our tiles are made-to-order utilizing any of our more than 40 glazes. When hand painting is requested, our artists hand-paint layers of glaze directly into the bisque using the antique method.
Meredith Art Tiles by Meredith Collection are made to the highest standards. They are one-half inch thick, which gives them superior breaking strength, as well as optimum depth for our mold work. ****Tiles are handmade and subject to variation of size, shape and color. We recommend that all tiles be laid out prior to installation in order to balance the range over the entire area. Very fine hairline cracks in the glaze (known as crazing) should be expected and may appear before, during or after installation. We believe each of these characteristics are desirable attributes and are inherent to our turn-of-the-century handcrafted production methods. Please inspect all tiles carefully prior to installation. Installation constitutes acceptance and we want to make sure you are happy with your tile.

Prices of existing homes -- which fell a record 3.5% last month -- will likely drop further through year£§s end, delivering the bitter medicine needed to restore the health of the housing market, the National Association of Realtors said Tuesday.
The median price fell in October for a third-consecutive month, to $221,000, as sellers were forced to cut prices. Those price drops, coupled with a dip in mortgage rates, seem to be reviving sales. Existing home sales ended a six-month losing streak in October, unexpectedly inching up 0.5%.
Prices still have further to fall, says David Lereah, the NAR£§s chief economist. But, he notes, the faster they fall, the faster the correction in the home market will end. "The correction is working, and sales are stabilizing," Lereah says. "That£§s good news for the economy."...More... [ Technology ] Two functions of a floor or wall covering
The covering to be used on a given wall or floor must serve tow functions: one is an aesthetic function, as a design element; another is a technical function, as a construc-tion material capable of withstanding a range of environmental stresses without breakage or wear.
These two functions are basic and essential; both are indispensable .
The buyer/user know that both these functions can be served , in theory at least, by various types of surface coverings. We say "theoretically", since in general there are a variety of practical and economic options to choose form. In specific cases, though, the number of alternatives is much smaller, and sometimes only one material is technically suitable and economically advantageous.
